The Parliamentary Standing Committee will review the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case and implementation of NTA reforms during a meeting on May 21, 2026. Senior Education Ministry officials and NTA Chairperson Pradeep Kumar Joshi have been summoned for deliberations.
NEET-UG 2026 paper leak allegations will be reviewed by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports during a meeting scheduled for May 21, 2026. The committee has summoned top Education Ministry officials and the National Testing Agency (NTA) chairperson to discuss examination irregularities and the implementation of recommended reforms.
The committee, chaired by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, is expected to examine the progress made in strengthening the NTA after repeated concerns over examination security and transparency.
NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak Case and NTA Reform Review
Before the scheduled deliberations, the committee issued notices to Vineet Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, and NTA Chairperson Pradeep Kumar Joshi. The meeting agenda includes reviewing the implementation of recommendations made by the K Radhakrishnan Committee, which was formed to suggest reforms in the functioning of the NTA.
The panel will also seek updates regarding the investigation into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The issue gained national attention after the NTA cancelled the medical entrance examination conducted on May 03, 2026. According to official information shared by the agency, reports related to alleged malpractice were received on May 07, 2026, four days after the examination was conducted.
NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Date and Computer-Based Test Plan
Before discussing the latest developments, the Education Ministry had announced a fresh examination schedule following the cancellation of the original test. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed that the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted on June 21, 2026. He also stated that the examination is expected to shift completely to a computer-based format from the next academic session. Nearly 23 lakh candidates had registered for the original NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted across India.
Parliamentary Panel to Discuss AI, Employability and NEP
Apart from the NEET matter, the standing committee will also hold discussions on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and measures required to improve student employability. Representatives from organisations and institutions including Anthropic India, Pratham, IIT Kanpur, Infosys and IIT Madras have been invited to participate in the discussions.
The committee is also scheduled to review issues related to educational institutions, implementation of reservation policies, faculty vacancies and the progress of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Separate discussions will be conducted with officials from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) regarding institutional and policy matters.
The parliamentary panel will additionally examine reports linked to teacher training initiatives under NEP 2020 and government action taken on previous recommendations concerning education and child development sectors.
