NEET UG 2026 Dress Code: What to Wear, What to Avoid on Exam Day

NTA has released the NEET UG 2026 dress code guidelines for exam day. Candidates must wear light clothes with short sleeves, slippers or low-heel sandals, and avoid watches, jewellery, shoes, and electronic items.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reminded candidates appearing for NEET UG 2026 to strictly follow the official dress code and exam day guidelines. These rules are introduced to ensure smooth frisking and prevent unfair practices during the examination. Candidates are advised to wear simple and light clothes, avoid metallic items, and reach the exam centre on time to avoid last-minute issues.
NEET UG 2026 Dress Code for Candidates
As per the official guidelines, candidates should wear light clothes with short sleeves. Heavy clothes and outfits with long sleeves should be avoided. Large buttons, brooches, badges, and metallic decorations are not allowed as they may create problems during security checks. Both male and female candidates should choose simple and comfortable clothing for hassle-free entry.
Dress Code for Male Candidates
Male candidates are advised to wear:
- Half-sleeved shirt or T-shirt
- Simple trousers or plain pants
- Slippers or sandals with low heels
They should avoid:
- Full-sleeved shirts
- Heavy jackets or layered clothes
- Shoes, boots, and sports shoes
- Belts, watches, chains, and bracelets
Dress Code for Female Candidates
Female candidates should wear:
- Half-sleeved kurti, top, or shirt
- Simple salwar, leggings, or plain trousers
- Flat slippers or simple sandals
They should avoid:
- Heavy dresses and fancy outfits
- Full sleeves and layered clothes
- Jewellery like earrings, bangles, rings, chains
- High heels and closed shoes
Footwear Rules for NEET UG 2026
Candidates are advised to wear only slippers or sandals with low heels. Shoes, boots, sports shoes, and high heels are generally not allowed inside the exam centre. This rule helps in faster frisking and better security checks.
Religious or Customary Dress Rules for NEET UG 2026
Candidates wearing religious or customary dress such as hijab, turban, burqa, etc., are allowed to appear for the exam. However, they must report at least one hour before the last reporting time (before 12:30 PM) for proper frisking and verification. Additional checking may be done in such cases.
NEET UG 2026: Items Not Allowed Inside the Exam Centre
Candidates must not carry:
- Mobile phones
- Smart watches or wrist watches
- Bluetooth devices
- Earphones and electronic gadgets
- Wallets and handbags
- Heavy jewellery
- Study material or notes
- Food items and water bottles
- Caps, belts, goggles, and metallic accessories
NEET UG 2026: Important Exam Day Instructions
Students should remember:
- Reach the exam centre early
- Carry admit card and valid photo ID proof
- Follow biometric verification and frisking process
- Female candidates will be frisked separately by female staff
- Avoid carrying unnecessary personal belongings
Candidates should rely only on official NTA instructions and avoid fake updates or misleading information on social media.
