NEET 2026 exam centres in Kolkata have been shifted to Calcutta University campuses due to CAPF deployment. The exam will be held on 03 May 2026, with alternative arrangements made for candidates.
The National Testing Agency has shifted several NEET 2026 examination centres in Kolkata to Calcutta University campuses. The decision was taken after central armed police forces occupied schools and colleges ahead of election duties. The revised arrangements ensure that the medical entrance exam will proceed as scheduled without disruption.
NEET 2026 Exam Date and Centre Changes
The NEET 2026 examination will be conducted as planned, but with changes in exam venues across Kolkata. The shift affects multiple candidates who were earlier allotted schools and colleges. The key details are as follows:
- Exam date: 03 May 2026
- Exam authority: National Testing Agency (NTA)
- New centres: Calcutta University campuses
- Reason: CAPF deployment in schools and colleges
Candidates are advised to check updated exam centre details on their admit cards.
Why NEET Centres Were Shifted in Kolkata?
The change in exam centres was necessitated due to the occupation of educational institutions by security forces. These forces have been deployed in preparation for election-related duties. Officials confirmed that:
- Schools and colleges designated as exam centres were occupied by central armed police forces
- The deployment is expected to continue until 04 May 2026 (counting day)
- Alternative arrangements were required to avoid disruption to the examination process
As a result, university campuses were chosen as suitable replacements.
Calcutta University’s Role in Conducting NEET 2026
Calcutta University has agreed to provide its campuses to facilitate the examination. The university administration has coordinated with the NTA to ensure smooth conduct. The arrangements include:
- Use of College Street campus for around 960 candidates
- Additional campuses to accommodate over 1,000 more candidates if required
- Availability of infrastructure to conduct the exam securely
The university has assured full cooperation for conducting the national-level exam.
