NEET 2026 Application Form: Last Date, Photo & Qualifying Code Details

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the NEET UG 2026 application form process at neet.nta.nic.in for students seeking admission to undergraduate medical and allied health courses across India. The application window started on 8 February 2026 and will close on 8 March 2026 (until 9:00 pm). NEET 2026 is the national medical entrance exam that determines admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other UG medical and dental programmes. Aspiring candidates must follow strict guidelines while submitting the form to avoid rejection due to errors.

NEET 2026 Last Date and Registration Window

Candidates can register and fill the online application form at neet.nta.nic.in until 8 March 2026. All steps including personal details, academic information, document uploads and fee payment, must be completed before the deadline. Once the deadline passes, the portal will close, and no further registrations will be accepted. After submission, a correction window is expected to open from 10 March to 12 March 2026 for eligible updates to specific fields.

NEET 2026: Photo Requirements & Document Upload Instructions

NEET 2026 candidates must upload several key documents in prescribed formats and sizes. These include:

  • Passport-size photograph: 10 KB to 200 KB in JPG/JPEG format, taken on white/light background with at least 80% face visible.
  • Postcard-size photo: 4″ x 6″ (10 KB to 200 KB, JPG/JPEG).
  • Signature: 4 KB to 30 KB, black ink on white paper, JPG/JPEG.
  • Thumb & finger impressions: 10 KB to 200 KB, JPG/JPEG.
  • Identity and address proofs: PDF/JPG/JPEG as required.
  • Class 10 and other academic certificates: PDF format with size 50 KB–300 KB.

Uploading a live photo capture during application is also mandatory as per the latest NTA guidelines, and a live photograph session may be required to match with Aadhaar or other ID proofs. Documents must be scanned clearly; blurry or non-compliant images can lead to application rejection.

NEET 2026: Qualifying Examination Code and Eligibility

While filling the form, candidates must enter the correct qualifying exam code based on their academic status:

  • Code 01: For candidates appearing in Class 12 in 2026.
  • Codes 02–07: For candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent from recognised boards.

Entering the wrong qualifying code can affect eligibility; aspirants should verify details against the NEET information bulletin before submission.

NEET 2026: Application Fees and Payment

NEET 2026 application fees must be paid online during form submission. Fees vary by category ranging from INR 1,700 for General to INR 1,000 for SC/ST/PwBD, with higher charges for overseas centres. Fees can be paid via net banking, credit/debit card or UPI. Candidates should verify payment success before logging out.

NEET 2026: Tips to Avoid Mistakes

To ensure a successful NEET 2026 application, candidates should:

  • Upload photos and documents strictly as per the specified size and format.
  • Complete Aadhaar-based eKYC and live photo capture without errors.
  • Avoid waiting until the last day to pay fees because site congestion can delay processing.
  • Keep a printed copy of the confirmation page and keep login credentials secure.

What’s Next After Submission?

Once the NEET 2026 application form and fee payment are submitted and the correction window closes, NTA will issue the admit card a few weeks before the exam. The exam is tentatively scheduled for 3 May 2026. Candidates must watch the official portal for announcements about admit cards, exam city slips and future schedules for counselling and seat allotment after results.
