NCERT has launched the AI-enabled E-Magic Box application to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy among early-grade students, aligning with the goals of NEP 2020.

NCERT Launches AI-Based E-Magic Box App for Early Learners

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched E-Magic Box, an artificial intelligence–enabled learning application aimed at strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy among early-grade learners. The digital initiative forms part of NCERT’s efforts to operationalise the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, which places strong emphasis on improving learning outcomes in the initial years of schooling.

AI-Enabled Support for Early Learners

According to officials, the E-Magic Box application leverages AI-based features to deliver personalised learning experiences tailored to a child’s pace and progress. The app includes interactive modules focusing on basic reading, writing, and arithmetic, designed to keep young learners engaged while reinforcing core skills. The application is intended to supplement classroom instruction, offering adaptive exercises that respond to individual learning needs rather than replacing traditional teaching methods.

Aligned With FLN Mission Under NEP 2020

The launch of E-Magic Box aligns with India’s Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) mission, a key pillar of the NEP framework that aims to ensure all children achieve basic reading and numeracy skills at the primary level. As part of this mission, digital tools are increasingly being introduced in classrooms to address learning gaps and provide targeted academic support, particularly in the foundational years.

Support for Teachers and Schools

Education stakeholders note that technology-enabled platforms like E-Magic Box can assist teachers by offering data-driven insights into student performance. These insights can help educators identify learning gaps early and adjust instruction accordingly. However, experts have also stressed the importance of ensuring equitable access to digital devices and reliable internet connectivity, especially in rural and underserved regions, to maximise the impact of such initiatives.

Implementation and Training Plans

NCERT is expected to issue detailed guidelines to schools and state education departments on the integration of the E-Magic Box app into existing teaching practices. Training and orientation modules for teachers may also be rolled out to facilitate effective classroom use of the platform.

Growing Role of Digital Education

The introduction of the E-Magic Box reflects the expanding role of AI-driven and digital solutions in India’s school education ecosystem. As policymakers and educators seek innovative ways to improve foundational learning, such tools are becoming central to achieving long-term educational goals under the NEP framework.
