The Madhya Pradesh State Education Centre has announced that Class 5 and Class 8 board examinations 2026 will be held from 20 February to 28 February 2026 in a board‑pattern format for the 2025–26 session. These examinations will involve students enrolled in government schools, private institutions and registered madrasas across the state.
Exam Schedule and Participation
As per the latest plan, the MP Board will conduct the Class 5 and Class 8 examinations over a nine‑day period from 20 February to 28 February 2026. A total of around 24.90 lakh students — roughly 2.49 million candidates — are expected to sit for these tests, making it one of the largest participation cohorts for board‑pattern exams in the lower classes The examinations will be held at 12,920 centres established across the state, accommodating candidates from all educational backgrounds including government, private and madrasa systems. Separate language question papers — based on the NCERT syllabus — have also been prepared for students in private schools where required
Board‑Pattern Format and Arrangements
This year’s examinations will follow a board‑pattern format, similar to Higher Secondary and Secondary board exams, aimed at standardising assessment for both Class 5 and Class 8 students. The Board’s dedicated IT portal will facilitate vital processes including student verification, allocation of exam centres, mapping centre heads, distribution of exam materials, roll number issuance and presence recording. The portal will further support attendance capturing, evaluation and marksheet generation to ensure streamlined processing from the examination halls to result compilation. Centre heads have been directed to include even those students who may not have completed registration by exam day, with their technical details to be updated after the examination.
Inclusive Participation Across Schools
Students from 86,109 government schools, 23,980 non‑government schools and 525 madrasas across Madhya Pradesh will appear for the Class 5 and Class 8 board exams in 2026. All arrangements — including seating, question paper distribution based on subjects, and logistical support — have been made in accordance with student strength at each centre. The board has emphasised smooth conduct of the examinations and completion of all mandatory protocols to ensure a fair and orderly assessment environment for the state’s vast cohort of young learners.
