MHT CET Counselling 2026: 1.81 Lakh Engineering Admissions Recorded, Check Complete Details

The MHT CET Counselling 2026 process has recorded more than 1.81 lakh engineering admissions across Maharashtra for the 2026-27 academic year, according to data released by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell. The latest figures also reveal a clear preference for Computer Engineering, which emerged as the most chosen branch among students.

A total of 1,81,927 students secured admission to BE and BTech programmes across 387 engineering colleges offering 111 courses. The number is 15,181 higher than the 1,66,746 engineering admissions recorded in 2025-26.

The final admission figures show a substantial rise in engineering enrolment compared with the previous academic year. The data covers admissions through the Maharashtra CAP process and subsequent institutional-level rounds.

The increase represents a sizeable rise in the number of students joining engineering programmes across Maharashtra. Male students accounted for 1,14,121 admissions, while 67,806 female students secured seats.

MHT CET 2026 Engineering Admissions: Computer Engineering Tops Branch Choices

Computer Engineering was the most preferred engineering branch in Maharashtra, with 28,170 admissions. It accounted for around 15.48% of the total BE-BTech admissions reported in the latest data.

Mechanical Engineering followed with 19,702 admissions, while Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering recorded 18,895 admissions. Computer Science and Engineering also remained highly preferred, with 18,277 admissions.

The branch-wise figures show that computing, technology and engineering disciplines continue to attract a large share of students during the MHT CET admission 2026 process.

Artificial Intelligence and Data Science recorded 10,502 admissions, while CSE with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning recorded 6,650 admissions.

MHT CET Counselling 2026: SPPU Records Highest Engineering Admissions

Among the universities covered in the Maharashtra CET Cell data, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) recorded the highest number of engineering admissions at 64,822.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, followed with 34,385 admissions, while the University of Mumbai recorded 32,126 engineering admissions.

The university-wise figures highlight the strong demand for engineering colleges affiliated with major universities across Maharashtra.

MHT CET Engineering Admissions 2026: Pune Leads District-Wise Data

Pune emerged as the leading district for engineering admissions, with 49,616 students joining engineering colleges during the 2026-27 admission cycle. This represents about 27.3% of the total engineering admissions recorded across Maharashtra.

Nagpur followed with 18,921 admissions, while Nashik recorded 12,469. Mumbai Suburban and Thane reported 11,421 and 11,236 admissions, respectively.

The concentration of admissions in Pune also aligns with the strong enrolment recorded by SPPU-affiliated engineering colleges.

MHT CET Counselling 2026: How Many Students Registered?

The MHT CET engineering counselling 2026 process attracted 2,51,726 registrations for engineering admissions. Across the available admission process, 1,81,927 students eventually secured seats.

The Maharashtra CET Cell conducted four CAP rounds followed by an institutional admission round. The four CAP rounds together accounted for 1,40,554 admissions, while the institutional CAP round recorded 27,472 admissions.

Management quota admissions accounted for another 13,473 seats, with 189 admissions recorded under Jammu and Kashmir and AICTE-related quotas.
