Marketing MBA Enrolment Drops to 5.63 Percent

Recent education analytics highlight a sharp fall in demand for Marketing as a specialisation. Marketing enrolments now account for only 5.63 percent of total MBA registrations in the current admission cycle. Once considered the most popular MBA stream, marketing has been impacted by rapid changes in the digital economy, automation, and performance-driven hiring models. Experts explain that while marketing roles still exist, employers now demand niche digital, analytics, and performance marketing skills, which are being pursued through more specialized courses instead of traditional MBA programs.

 

Gen Z Is Redefining MBA Value in India

The shift reflects a broader generational transformation. Gen Z learners are highly outcome-driven, selecting MBA programs only if they promise clear career mobility, competitive salaries, and industry relevance. Unlike past cohorts, reputation alone is no longer a deciding factor. Data insights further reveal that students aged 23 to 26 years dominate current MBA enrolments, with strong participation from technology-driven regions such as Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh. These students rely heavily on transparent comparisons, counselling platforms, and placement performance metrics instead of legacy perceptions. Experts agree that the MBA remains a powerful career accelerator—but only when aligned with modern industry demands and skill-driven education models.
