The University of Kashmir has invited online applications for Assistant Professor and equivalent posts under Advertisement Notice No. 17 of 2026. The recruitment drive covers 29 posts across various departments, campuses, institutes and centres.

The posts are available at the Main Campus and various departments, institutes and centres of the university. The university has stated that the number of vacancies is tentative and may be increased or decreased during the selection process.

Kashmir University Assistant Professor Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should generally have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks in the concerned, relevant or allied subject from a recognised Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Specific posts have additional subject requirements.

NET is compulsory for candidates with postgraduate degrees. However, candidates belonging to the UT of Jammu and Kashmir who are not NET qualified can meet the requirement through SET. Candidates with a qualifying PhD under the applicable UGC regulations are exempted from NET/SET.

A 5% relaxation in the required marks is available at the bachelor's and master's levels for eligible SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and PwD candidates.

Candidates have to pay an application fee of INR 1,200 through online mode. Persons with benchmark disabilities are exempted from the application fee. The fee once paid will not be refunded or adjusted.
