The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) successfully conducted the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2025 across the Union Territory despite severe flight disruptions, public protests, and ongoing debate over the upper age limit. As per official data, 60.83% candidates appeared for the examination held on 08 December 2025. The conduct of the exam ended days of uncertainty surrounding its postponement.
JKPSC CCE 2025 Held in Two Sessions as Scheduled
The JKPSC CCE 2025 was conducted in two shifts, strictly adhering to the pre-announced schedule. The first session was held from 10 AM to 12 PM, followed by the second session from 02 PM to 04 PM. Despite logistical challenges caused by widespread flight cancellations and political pressure, the commission proceeded with the examination to avoid further delays in the recruitment cycle. According to senior officials, security arrangements were strengthened across all examination centres to ensure a smooth process. Questions were distributed without disruption, and biometric verification was enforced at key locations. Authorities also deployed additional invigilators to manage crowd movement and ensure compliance with examination guidelines.
60.83% Attendance Recorded Across 53 Examination Centres
The attendance data highlights the large-scale participation despite adverse conditions. Out of 22,573 registered candidates, 13,732 candidates appeared for the examination across 53 centres in Jammu and Kashmir. Before reviewing the turnout data, it is important to note that several aspirants were unable to travel due to sudden flight cancellations and local protests. Weather-related disruptions further impacted connectivity in multiple districts. The official turnout figures are summarised below.
The commission confirmed that all centres reported peaceful conduct of the examination with no major incidents of malpractice.
Age Limit Row and Government Pressure Before the Exam
The upper age limit controversy remained the major point of contention ahead of the examination. The elected government, several political parties, and a large section of aspirants had demanded a postponement of CCE 2025 to allow relaxation in age criteria. This demand led to visible tension between the civil administration and Raj Bhavan in the days leading up to the exam. Despite repeated appeals, JKPSC maintained that the postponement would disrupt the entire recruitment calendar. Officials stated that any policy-level decision regarding age relaxation would follow due process and legal review, but the examination could not be deferred at the final stage.
Official Statement on Smooth Conduct of CCE 2025
Speaking after the examination, the JKPSC Additional Secretary and Controller of Examination confirmed that the process was completed successfully across all districts. He stated that the commission ensured uninterrupted conduct at every centre and thanked district administrations for coordination under challenging conditions. The successful completion of CCE 2025 is a crucial step for recruitment to various administrative services in Jammu and Kashmir. The next phase is expected to involve answer key release, followed by result declaration and further selection stages as per the notified schedule.
