JEE Main 2026 Exam Tomorrow: Important Exam Day Guidelines

The National Testing Agency is set to begin the JEE Main 2026 Session-1 examinations from 21 January 2026, continuing across scheduled dates for engineering aspirants. Candidates appearing for the exam tomorrow must familiarise themselves with essential instructions to ensure compliance and avoid last-minute issues.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Schedule and Reporting Time

The JEE Main 2026 Session-1 is being conducted online (computer-based test) in multiple shifts with specific time slots for each session.

  • Exam dates: 21 – 24 January (Session-1) with additional exam dates up to 29 January 2026
  • Morning shift: 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Afternoon shift: 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM
  • Reporting/entry window: Candidates should reach the exam centre well before the reporting time specified on their admit card and complete verification procedures well within time.

Late entry beyond the gate closing time will not be permitted under any circumstances.

Mandatory Documents to Carry

Candidates must carry the following mandatory documents to the exam centre:

  • JEE Main 2026 admit card — a clear printed copy
  • Original valid photo identity proof — Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or PAN Card
  • Self-declaration form and a recent passport-size photograph if specified in the admit card instructions

Failure to produce any of these may result in denial of entry.

Dress Code and Conduct

While NTA has not mandated a specific uniform, recommendations include:

  • Light, comfortable attire without metal attachments
  • Footwear like sandals or slippers (avoid heavy boots or shoes) to speed up security checks
  • Avoid excessive jewellery or accessories that may delay entry or frisking

Arrive early to complete biometric and document verification.

Prohibited Items in Exam Hall

To ensure fair conduct, the following items are strictly banned inside the examination hall:

  • Electronic devices — mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, tablets
  • Bags, wallets, notes, and study material
  • Pens, pencils, paper or any external stationery (rough sheets are provided at the centre)
  • Jewellery, belts, metal accessories
  • Packed food and beverages (except medically permitted items for diabetic candidates with proof)

Possessing prohibited items may lead to disqualification.

Dos & Don’ts on Exam Day

Dos:

  • Reach the centre at least one hour before reporting time
  • Verify all details on the admit card and carry backup copies
  • Follow centre instructions during frisking and seating procedures

Don’ts:

  • Do not arrive after the gate closes
  • Do not carry any restricted items to the centre
  • Avoid unnecessary conversations or behaviour that may disrupt the exam environment

Final Notes for Aspirants

Candidates are advised to double-check the details on their admit card and plan travel to the exam centre considering possible delays due to traffic or weather. Staying calm and following the exam day instructions carefully will help ensure a smooth test-taking experience.
