JEE Main 2026 exam timing has been officially outlined for candidates appearing in the January session. The National Testing Agency will conduct the examination in multiple shifts across several days. Candidates must strictly adhere to reporting time and entry guidelines mentioned on the admit card.
JEE Main 2026 Shift-wise Exam Timing for Paper 1The BE and BTech paper of JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two shifts on each exam day. Candidates will be allotted either the morning or afternoon shift as per their admit card.Before checking shift details, candidates should note that the exam duration for Paper 1 is three hours, and no extra time will be permitted once the test begins.
- Morning Shift (Shift 1): 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Afternoon Shift (Shift 2): 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
The exact exam date and shift will be mentioned on the official admit card issued by the testing authority.
JEE Main 2026 Paper 2 Exam Timing
Paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning courses will be conducted in a single shift. This paper is scheduled separately from the BE and BTech examination days.Candidates appearing for Paper 2 must note that the exam duration is three hours and thirty minutes, as it includes both objective and drawing-based sections.
- Paper 2 Timing: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
JEE Main 2026 Reporting Time and Gate Closing Schedule
Candidates are required to report to the exam centre well before the start of the examination. Entry to the centre will be strictly regulated, and late entry will not be permitted under any circumstances.For smooth verification and biometric processes, candidates should reach the centre as per the reporting window mentioned below.
- Morning Shift Reporting Time: From 7:00 AM
- Morning Shift Gate Closing: 8:30 AM
- Afternoon Shift Reporting Time: From 1:00 PM
- Afternoon Shift Gate Closing: 2:30 PM
Candidates must complete security checks and login procedures before the final instructions are announced inside the exam hall.

All candidates must carry a printed admit card, valid photo identity proof, and follow exam-day guidelines strictly.
