How is the India Post GDS merit list 2026 prepared?

Unlike many government recruitment processes, the standard India Post GDS selection process does not include a written examination. Your selection is based on the marks obtained in Class 10, according to the recruitment rules.

The merit list is prepared using the marks or grades recorded in your Class 10 secondary school certificate. Where applicable, the prescribed conversion method is used to calculate the merit percentage.

Keep these points in mind while checking your result:

• Class 10 marks: Your recorded marks form the basis of merit calculation.
• Merit ranking: Your position depends on the applicable selection rules and merit criteria.
• Document verification: Appearing on the list does not mean every recruitment formality is complete.
• Official updates: Follow the instructions issued for your postal circle.

What should you do after your name appears in the GDS merit list?

If you find your name in the first merit list, your next step is to prepare for document verification. Read the official result notice carefully because it will provide the reporting instructions and the deadline applicable to your selection.

Keep the following documents ready, as applicable to your application:

• Class 10 marksheet and certificate
• Valid identity proof
• Caste or category certificate, if applicable
• Disability certificate, where applicable
• Other certificates or records requested in the official notice
• Copies of your application details and selection information

Check that the name, date of birth and other details on your certificates match the information submitted during registration. Any mismatch or missing document may cause problems during verification.

Do not assume that selection on the merit list automatically confirms your appointment. You must complete the required verification and other formalities within the prescribed timeline.

What if your name is missing from the India Post GDS Result 2026?

If you cannot find your name, first confirm that you downloaded the correct circle-wise merit list. Search using your registration details and check the official portal for any further announcements.

A missing name in the first merit list does not confirm that another list will be released for your application. Any additional merit list will depend on the recruitment authority's official decision and the applicable selection process.

Avoid relying on unofficial PDFs or messages that promise selection. Use the official portal for the latest instructions and updates.
