IIT JAM 2027 Registration Date Revised: Applications to Begin on September 12, Check New Dates Here

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has revised the IIT JAM 2027 registration date. As per the latest update, the IIT JAM 2027 registration process will begin on September 12, 2026, instead of the earlier announced date. Candidates will be able to submit the JAM 2027 application form through the official JAM website.

The IIT JAM 2027 registration last date is October 12, 2026. IIT Kharagpur is the organising institute for JAM 2027, which will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for seven test papers.

IIT JAM 2027 Registration Date

According to the revised schedule released by IIT Kharagpur, the JAM 2027 JOAPS portal will open on September 12, 2026. Candidates will have to complete the registration and application process through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS).

The last date to submit the IIT JAM 2027 application form is October 12, 2026. Candidates should complete the application process before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.

IIT JAM 2027 Exam Date

The IIT JAM 2027 exam date is February 14, 2027. IIT Kharagpur will conduct the examination in two sessions in computer-based mode. The test will be held across around 114 cities in India.

The examination will be conducted for seven test papers — Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH).

Candidates can appear for one or two test papers. However, candidates choosing two papers can select only those scheduled in different sessions.

IIT JAM 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed their undergraduate degree or are appearing in the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2027 can appear for IIT JAM 2027. There is no age restriction for appearing in the examination.

However, qualifying for JAM does not automatically guarantee admission. Candidates must satisfy the eligibility requirements and minimum educational qualifications prescribed by the respective admitting institute and programme.

IIT JAM scores will be used for admissions to postgraduate programmes for the academic year 2027-28. The examination scores can be used for programmes such as M.Sc., M.Sc.-M.Tech. dual degree, Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree, MS (Research) and Integrated Ph.D. programmes.

IIT JAM 2027 Application Fee

Candidates will have to pay the prescribed IIT JAM 2027 application fee while submitting the application form. The fee varies according to the candidate's category and number of test papers selected.

The application fee is non-refundable.

IIT JAM 2027 Exam Pattern

The IIT JAM 2027 exam pattern consists of 60 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. The question paper will contain three sections: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

Section A will contain 30 MCQs and carry 50 marks, while Section B will contain 10 MSQs carrying 20 marks. Section C will consist of 20 NAT questions carrying 30 marks.

Negative marking will apply to MCQs, while MSQs and NAT questions will not have negative marking. The examination duration will be three hours.

IIT JAM 2027 Admit Card

The IIT JAM 2027 admit card will be available for download through JOAPS from January 5, 2027, according to the information brochure. Candidates will not receive the admit card through post or email.

Candidates must download and print the admit card and carry it to the examination centre along with the original valid photo ID submitted during registration.
