IIM Sambalpur formally welcomed the inaugural batch of its B.S. Programme in Data Science & AI and B.S. Programme in Management & Public Policy at the Sambalpur campus, Odisha. The first batch comprises 178 students, including 88 in Data Science & AI and 90 in Management & Public Policy, from over twenty states across India. The programmes, announced in May 2025, align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aim to build strong academic foundations alongside leadership, ethical, and societal skills.
IIM Sambalpur BS Programmes 2025: Admission Details
Admissions were conducted through JEE (Main) 2025 for Data Science & AI and CUET (UG) 2025 for Management & Public Policy. The highest admitted JEE rank for Data Science & AI was 44,645, while top CUET scorers achieved a 99.80 percentile in Management & Public Policy. Gender-wise distribution is as follows:
Programme Objectives and Industry Collaboration
The B.S. in Data Science & AI aims to enhance India’s digital capabilities and global competitiveness. It focuses on data analysis, critical reasoning, and ethical AI usage. The B.S. in Management & Public Policy addresses managerial aspirations in sustainability, ESG, and community-led development. Both programmes are co-designed with industry leaders to equip students with future-ready skills and cross-functional expertise.
Inaugural Event Highlights
The inauguration featured Ratnesh Jha, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India as Chief Guest. Guests of honour included Amit Sareen, Managing Director, Accenture, and Anjan A, Vice President, North Trust. Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, delivered the inaugural address.
