IELTS Listening 2026 Pattern Update: New Map Design and Task Order

The Listening section is becoming less predictable, and students must be ready for sudden changes in task order. One important update is that map questions now include a “You Are Here” marker, which helps candidates find their starting point more easily. The section may also have 2 matching tasks or sometimes none, making the structure harder to guess. The audio changes quickly, so students must focus from the first second.
