How to Prepare for CUET Physics 2026: Strategy, Topics & Books

Preparing for the CUET Physics 2026 exam requires a clear understanding of the National Testing Agency (NTA) syllabus, marking scheme and focused study strategy. Physics is among the most opted domain subjects in CUET and contributes significantly to undergraduate admissions in science and engineering programmes at central universities.

CUET Physics 2026 Exam Pattern & Syllabus Overview

The CUET Physics paper is conducted in computer‑based mode and consists of 50 compulsory multiple‑choice questions worth 250 marks in total. Each correct answer carries +5 marks with –1 for incorrect responses, making accuracy important.

The syllabus spans core physics topics from Class 11 and 12, including:

• Electrostatics and Current Electricity
• Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction & AC Circuits
• Optics and Wave Phenomena
• Modern Physics, Dual Nature, Atoms and Nuclei
• Electronic Devices and Communication Systems

CUET Physics 2026: High‑Priority Topics & Weightage

Some topics consistently contribute more questions based on past trends:

• Electric Charges, Fields & Capacitance
• Current Electricity & Magnetic Effects
• Optics (Ray & Wave Optics)
• Electromagnetic Waves and Alternating Currents
• Dual Nature of Matter

Focusing first on high‑yield chapters can help improve scoring chances before moving to less frequent topics, especially when time is limited.

CUET Physics 2026: Preparation Strategy for Best Results

1. Cover NCERT Textbooks Thoroughly:Since CUET Physics questions are primarily based on NCERT Class 11 and 12 concepts, complete coverage of these books ensures strong foundational clarity.

2. Make a Study Timetable:Split your preparation over weeks or months with clear goals for each topic, similar to structured plans widely recommended for design exam prep. Start with basics, then move to application and problem solving.

3. Practice Mock Tests & Past Papers:Solving previous years’ CUET Physics papers and mock tests improves familiarity with exam style and time management, which is crucial in a competitive exam.

4. Focus on Conceptual Understanding:Physics questions in CUET require both conceptual clarity and application skills. Reinforce core concepts before memorising formulas as questions often test logic rather than rote knowledge.

5. Revise Regularly:Create revision notes and formula sheets for last‑minute review. Allocate time near the exam for targeted revision and problem‑solving drills.

CUET Physics 2026: Best Reference Books & Resources

In addition to NCERTs, aspirants can use reputed reference books like:

• Concepts of Physics by HC Verma – for clear conceptual understanding
• Objective Physics by D.C. Pandey & Arihant Experts – for practice questions
• Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday, Resnick & Walker – for deeper insight

Online resources, video lectures and curated mock test series are useful for reinforcing weak areas and testing preparation under timed conditions.

CUET Physics 2026 Last‑Minute Tips Before the Exam

• Practice time‑bound tests to enhance speed and accuracy.
• Prioritise revision of formulae and derivations closer to exam day.
• Avoid starting new topics late; concentrate instead on revision and mock analysis.

With consistent effort, strategic planning and regular practice, aspirants can maximise their CUET Physics scores and boost their overall performance in the UG entrance test.
