Haryana Govt Announces 3-Year Age Relaxation for Police CET 2026

The Haryana Government has announced a three-year age relaxation for aspirants taking the Common Entrance Test (CET) as part of the state’s police constable recruitment process. The decision was made to address issues faced by candidates who earlier lost eligibility due to procedural delays in conducting the CET.

Age Relaxation for CET Candidates Explained

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini confirmed that candidates who were previously unable to apply for the CET due to age restrictions will now be eligible to contest in the upcoming recruitment cycle. This move provides a one-time relaxation to ensure that youth do not lose opportunities because of administrative delays beyond their control. The age relaxation is specifically linked to the police constable recruitment CET, which has seen repeated postponements, resulting in some aspirants exceeding the earlier upper age limit. By offering a three-year extension, the state aims to restore eligibility for those affected.

Government’s Rationale and Youth Support Measures

The Chief Minister highlighted that the policy change reflects the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and fairness in public service recruitment. He stated that extending age relaxation was necessary to ensure that candidates who met all criteria except age are not disadvantaged due to delays in exam scheduling. In the statement, the government expressed its view that supporting young job seekers aligns with broader goals of strengthening employment prospects and maintaining trust in the recruitment system.

Broader Education and Skill Initiatives

Alongside the age relaxation announcement, the Haryana Government has introduced initiatives aimed at enhancing educational evaluation and skill development. The National Education Evaluation and Validation (NEEV) Portal was launched to support continuous assessment and strengthen implementation of education policies The state also signed agreements under the ‘Gyan Setu’ initiative with academic institutions to promote research collaboration and integrate academic efforts with governance priorities.

What This Means for Aspirants?

Candidates who were previously ineligible due to age constraints can now check revised eligibility details once the official recruitment notification is updated. They should follow announcements from the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) and related authorities to confirm the application schedule and age limits for the CET 2026 cycle. Prospective applicants are advised to prepare all necessary documentation and review eligibility criteria closely before submitting applications once registration opens.
