GATE 2027 Photo Size, Signature Size, Live Photo Requirements: Is Webcam Required for Registration?

IIT Madras has started the GATE 2027 registration process, and candidates filling the application form should pay special attention to the photograph, signature and live photo requirements. The GATE 2027 photo size, GATE 2027 signature size, live photograph and camera requirements are important parts of the online application process. Applications with photographs or signatures that do not meet the prescribed specifications can be marked defective and may require rectification.

A key point for candidates is that GATE 2027 live photo may be captured during registration. IIT Madras has therefore advised applicants to use either a computer with a webcam or a phone with a 5 MP camera. Candidates should keep the required photograph and signature files ready before starting the GATE 2027 online registration.

GATE 2027 Photo Size: Check Photograph Requirements

The GATE 2027 photo size should be 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm. Candidates have to upload a good-quality colour passport-size photograph with a white background. The candidate's face should cover 60–70% of the photograph and should be clearly visible.

The photograph must show the candidate facing directly towards the camera. Caps, hats, sunglasses and coloured glasses are not permitted, although normal spectacles used for vision correction are allowed if there is no glare.

Candidates should ensure that the uploaded photograph is clear and does not contain shadows, additional people or objects. The same photograph submitted during registration will be used on the GATE 2027 admit card and scorecard.

GATE 2027 Signature Size: Check Image Specifications

The GATE 2027 signature size also has specific requirements. Candidates must upload their signature in JPEG/JPG format, with the signature covering around 70–80% of the image after cropping.

The signature must be made by the candidate using black or dark blue ink. Digital signatures are not permitted. Candidates should also ensure that the signature is clearly visible and remains within the prescribed image area.

Candidates should not use initials, signatures written in capital letters, digitally generated signatures or signatures in colours other than black or dark blue. An incorrect or mismatched signature can result in the application being marked defective.

GATE 2027 Photo and Signature: Important Points

Candidates filling the GATE 2027 application form should carefully check the uploaded photograph and signature before submitting the form. IIT Madras has warned that photographs or signatures that do not comply with the prescribed specifications can result in the application being marked DEFECTIVE.

In such cases, candidates may be informed through email, SMS or phone call and given an opportunity to rectify the defect. However, candidates should not depend on the correction facility and should upload the correct files during the initial application itself.

Candidates should also remember that the photograph used in the application will appear on the GATE 2027 admit card and scorecard.

GATE 2027 Registration: Documents and Camera Requirements

Apart from the GATE 2027 photo and signature, candidates need to keep a valid photo identity document ready. The same ID submitted during the application must be produced in original at the examination centre.

For Indian candidates, the accepted photo IDs include Aadhaar-UID, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID and Driving Licence.

Candidates should therefore keep their photograph, signature, valid ID and camera-enabled device ready before beginning the GATE 2027 registration.
