CSIR Technician Vacancy 2026

CSIR has announced 43 Technician vacancies across 10 technical trades. The largest number of posts is available for Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA).

The vacancies are distributed among UR, OBC (NCL), SC, ST and EWS categories. Two posts are reserved for PwBD categories, while four posts have horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen.

CSIR Technician Eligibility 2026

The basic qualification pattern is 10th/SSC with Science subjects and at least 55% marks, along with the relevant ITI or National/State Trade Certificate.

Depending on the trade, eligibility can also be met through:

• 10th/SSC with Science subjects and 55% marks plus two years of full-time apprenticeship experience in the relevant trade.
• 10th/SSC with Science subjects and 55% marks plus three years of relevant work experience in a government ministry, department, organisation, PSU or autonomous body.
• The qualification and experience must match the trade for which the application is submitted.

The maximum age is 28 years as on September 17, 2026. Age relaxation is available for eligible categories according to CSIR and Government of India rules.

CSIR Technician Application Fee 2026

The application fee for applicable applicants is INR 500. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen applicants are exempted from paying the fee.

The fee has to be paid online through SBI Collect. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against another recruitment or examination.

CSIR Technician Selection Process 2026

The selection process will have multiple stages:

1. Screening of applications
2. Trade Test
3. Competitive Written Examination
4. Final merit list

The Trade Test will be qualifying in nature. Applicants who clear the Trade Test will appear for the written examination consisting of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III. The final merit list will be prepared using marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III.

The written examination will have 150 questions and a total duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. Paper-I covers Mental Ability, while Paper-II covers General Awareness and English Language. Paper-III focuses on the concerned trade.
