CLAT PG 2025 counselling process faces further delays as the Delhi High Court has scheduled the next hearing on petitions challenging the exam for July. The court heard arguments today regarding alleged errors in the CLAT PG answer key and question paper.
The petitioners argued that the CLAT PG answer key contained multiple errors and that the high fee of INR 1,000 per question to raise objections posed a significant barrier. They also pointed out that the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) allowed only one day to file objections to the provisional answer key. According to the petitioners’ counsel, the final CLAT PG 2025 answer key included changes to eight questions.
The Supreme Court had earlier transferred the CLAT PG petitions filed by Anam Khan and Ayush Agrawal to the Delhi High Court, where a division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela heard the case today.
The petitioners further submitted that the objection fee was unreasonably high, especially considering the already substantial INR 4,000 entrance fee. Citing a comparison, they noted that even NEET charges only INR 200 per objection. They presented a compilation of objection fees across 11 national-level entrance exams, as reported by Bar and Bench.
The Consortium said that the extra fee is there to stop people from making unnecessary objections, because checking each one takes time. They added that every incorrect response could be challenged, but the fee is refunded if the challenge is valid. The Consortium also informed the court that four questions, including question 52, would be withdrawn due to typographical errors. The Delhi High Court has reserved its judgment and scheduled the next hearing for July.
Meanwhile, CLAT PG aspirants aiming for LLM admissions in 24 NLUs and other participating institutions will have to wait longer. The CLAT PG counselling, originally set to begin in December 2024, has been delayed due to answer key errors and ongoing court proceedings. Many students remain uncertain and concerned about their future.
