CBSE Introduces Digital Evaluation for Class 12 from Academic Year 2026 through the implementation of On-Screen Marking. The decision has been announced in a recent press release issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The board will conduct a webinar to guide teachers about the new evaluation system and its implementation process.
CBSE Class 12 On-Screen Marking (OSM) System 2026
The Central Board of Secondary Education will adopt the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for evaluating Class 12 answer books from the 2026 academic session. Under this system, answer scripts will be uploaded on a Digital Evaluation Platform and assessed online by authorised evaluators.
Teachers assigned for evaluation must update their details on the OASIS portal. Login credentials for the OSM portal will be shared through their registered email addresses. Schools will ensure that scanned answer books are made available digitally for assessment. The board has stated that this transition aims to enhance transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in the board exam evaluation process.
CBSE Webinar on Digital Answer Book Evaluation
To ensure readiness before implementation, CBSE is organising a webinar for teachers. The session will explain operational procedures, authentication methods, and guidelines related to digital marking. Participation in the preparatory exercise is mandatory. Teachers are expected to understand the workflow thoroughly to avoid technical or procedural errors during actual evaluation.
CBSE OSM Practice Session to Begin from 16 February 2026
The digital evaluation practice process will begin from 16 February 2026. Teachers can access the OSM portal multiple times to familiarise themselves with the system. Authentication will be done using the OASIS ID, School Code, and Date of Birth. After successful login, evaluators must follow the instructions displayed on the portal and complete practice assignments. Repeated practice is advised to ensure smooth execution from the first day of answer book checking.
Dedicated Dashboard for Monitoring OSM Training
CBSE has created a dedicated dashboard to monitor training progress. Access to this dashboard will be provided to school principals. The dashboard will display:
- Total number of Class XI and XII teachers registered on OASIS
- Number of teachers who have completed OSM practice
- List of teachers who are yet to complete the training
This monitoring system will help ensure that all evaluators are prepared before the commencement of the Class 12 board exam answer book evaluation process in 2026.
