CBSE Class 12 Special Exams 2026 Registration Dates

The CBSE Class 12 Special Exams 2026 registration process for eligible students in West Asian countries will begin on September 22, 2026. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will accept the List of Candidates (LOC) and examination forms until September 26, 2026. The special exams will cover 40 subjects whose examinations were earlier cancelled.

CBSE Class 12 Special Exams 2026: What Has Changed

CBSE has decided to conduct special examinations for Class 12 students in West Asian countries whose results were prepared under the Assessment Scheme. The decision covers students in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The earlier Class 12 examinations in these countries could not be conducted for the affected subjects. CBSE had subsequently issued an assessment scheme for declaring results. The new special examination gives eligible students an opportunity to appear in the subjects of their choice.

Students and schools should complete the LOC or examination form within the prescribed window. CBSE has not yet announced the actual examination dates; the date sheet will be communicated after the LOC submission process.

The schedule currently released by CBSE covers registration and LOC submission. Students will have to wait for the separate examination schedule after this process is completed.

Who Can Apply for CBSE Class 12 Special Exams 2026?

The special examination is not open to every Class 12 student. CBSE has specified eligibility conditions for both regular and private students.

For Regular Students

Students must meet these conditions:

• They studied in a CBSE-affiliated school in the affected West Asian countries.
• Their LOC was submitted for the 2026 Main Examinations.
• Their result was declared under the Assessment Scheme.
• They can select the subjects in which they want to appear.
• The result obtained through the special examination will be treated as final and will replace the earlier performance.

For Private Students

Private students from the affected countries can also apply if:

• They had submitted their examination form for the 2026 Main Examinations.
• Their result was declared under the Assessment Scheme.
• They choose the subjects in which they want to appear.
• The special examination result will replace their earlier performance.

CBSE Class 12 Special Exam 2026 Subjects

CBSE will conduct the special examinations for 40 subjects. The subjects are divided between academic and skill-based categories.

Students will be allowed to select the subjects in which they want to appear rather than being required to take all 40 subjects.

How to Submit CBSE Class 12 Special Exam LOC

Eligible students and schools should follow the instructions issued by CBSE while submitting the LOC or examination form.

• Complete the registration process.
• Enter the required student and examination details.
• Select the applicable subjects.
• Submit the form within the prescribed deadline.

CBSE has stated that the LOC submission window will remain open from September 22 to September 26, 2026.

Will Students Have to Pay CBSE Special Exam Fee?

No examination fee will be charged for the CBSE Class 12 special examinations covered under this notification. Students should not confuse this special examination with other CBSE examination processes that may have separate fees.

What Happens to the Earlier CBSE Class 12 Result?

The special examination result will be treated as the final result for the subjects in which the student appears. It will replace the earlier performance declared under the Assessment Scheme.

This means students who choose to take the special examination should carefully select their subjects and follow the CBSE instructions while submitting the LOC.
