The Central Board of Secondary Education conducted the CBSE Class 12 English board exam 2026 on 12 March 2026 in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM across exam centres in India. The Central Board of Secondary Education conducted the CBSE Class 12 English board examination 2026 on 12 March 2026 for students across science, commerce and arts streams. The exam was held in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at designated centres across the country. Students were given 15 minutes of reading time from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM to go through the question paper before beginning the exam

 

CBSE Class 12 English 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The English board exam is considered one of the common and scoring subjects in the Class 12 board examinations. The question paper follows a structured pattern divided into three sections.

  • Section A – Reading Skills: 22 marks
  • Section B – Creative Writing Skills: 18 marks
  • Section C – Literature (Flamingo & Vistas): 40 marks

The total theory exam carries 80 marks and is conducted over three hours. According to the latest exam design, the paper includes different types of questions to test comprehension and analytical skills:

  • 50% competency-based questions
  • 20% multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
  • 30% short- and long-answer questions

 

CBSE Class 12 English Paper 2026 Difficulty Level

The detailed paper analysis and student feedback are expected to be released after the exam concludes. Initial expectations suggest the paper would include:

  • Reading comprehension passages to test interpretation skills
  • Formal writing tasks such as letters, reports or articles
  • Literature-based questions from prescribed textbooks

Experts usually consider 55–65 marks as a good attempt depending on the paper’s difficulty and evaluation pattern.

 

CBSE Class 12 English Answer Key 2026

After the examination ends, unofficial answer keys for MCQ questions are expected to be released by subject experts and education portals. Students will be able to:

  • Compare answers using set-wise answer keys
  • Estimate their probable score in the exam
  • Review solutions and explanations for important questions.

However, the official answer key is usually not released by CBSE, and marks are calculated during the evaluation process.

 

CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 Expected Date

The board examinations for Class 12 began on 17 February 2026 and will continue until 10 April 2026. Key updates regarding results include:

  • Expected Result Date: May 2026
  • Students can check results on the official portal cbse.gov.in
  • Result access will require roll number, school number and admit card ID.
