Axis Bank Commits ₹80 Crore for FutureTech at Plaksha University

Axis Bank has committed over ₹80 crore towards strengthening technology education and advanced research at Plaksha University with the launch of the Axis Bank FutureTech CSR Initiative. As part of the initiative, the bank also inaugurated the Axis Bank FutureTech Building, a new state-of-the-art facility aimed at advancing interdisciplinary learning, innovation and industry collaboration. The multi-year partnership highlights Axis Bank’s continued support for Plaksha University’s mission to reshape higher education in India while contributing to the country’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision. The facility is located in the Chandigarh tri-city region, which is fast emerging as a growing technology and innovation hub.

FutureTech Building to House Advanced Schools and Labs

The newly established infrastructure on the university campus will serve as a central hub for research and innovation. The building will house:

  • Institute for Inventing the Future
  • School of AI and Computer Science
  • Multiple advanced research laboratories

The centre is designed to promote experiential learning, interdisciplinary research and industry-academia collaboration, and is expected to play a key role in developing solutions in frontier technology domains.

Key Focus Areas Under FutureTech CSR Initiative

Under the CSR initiative, Axis Bank will extend support across multiple strategic segments:

  • Axis Distinguished Faculty Chair: A named faculty position focusing on interdisciplinary “AI + X” research
  • Academic Programs and Innovation Projects: Support for faculty and student-led research in AI, robotics, blockchain and related technologies
  • Fellowships and Scholarships: Funding for PhD fellowships and undergraduate scholarships to nurture future deep-tech innovators
  • Global Collaborations: Partnerships with international institutions for joint research, faculty exchange and knowledge sharing

The collaboration is structured to strengthen Plaksha University’s long-term institutional growth and promote innovation at scale.

Axis Bank CEO Highlights National Importance of Innovation

Speaking at the launch, Amitabh Chaudhry, Managing Director and CEO of Axis Bank, said that innovation is critical to India’s national growth agenda. He stated that the FutureTech Building represents the bank’s long-term commitment to building world-class research ecosystems and supporting emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and deep-tech. He added that the initiative aims to create a strong talent pipeline that can drive economic expansion along with long-term societal impact.

Plaksha University Welcomes Long-Term Collaboration

Prof. Rudra Pratap, Founding Vice Chancellor of Plaksha University, described the partnership as a shared vision rather than only a financial contribution. He said the support would help create an environment where students and researchers collaborate to translate advanced research into real-world applications. The collaboration is expected to further strengthen the university’s focus on interdisciplinary education, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Axis Bank’s Longstanding Support to Plaksha University

Axis Bank has been associated with Plaksha University since Two Thousand Twenty One. Through the Axis Bank Scholarship Program, the bank has supported over thirty undergraduate scholars, including sixteen students who graduated in July Two Thousand Twenty Five as part of the university’s first graduating batch. The continued partnership reflects how strategic CSR investment and collective institutional support can accelerate India’s ambitions in research, innovation and nation-building.
