The West Bengal School Service Commission has published the preliminary interview list for the Second State Level Selection Test (SLST) held in September. More than 20,000 candidates have been shortlisted for the interview round for 12,514 vacancies of Class eleven and twelve teachers. The verification of documents will begin on November eighteen and continue until December four, covering thirty-eight subjects across the state. According to officials, the list has been arranged using three major components. These include the candidates’ written exam marks out of sixty, teaching experience worth ten marks, and eligibility worth ten marks. These criteria were used to prepare the merit-based call list for the next stage of recruitment.
Verification Starts Tomorrow for All Shortlisted Candidates
The commission has scheduled the verification round before the interviews. The shortlisted candidates must present the documents submitted earlier during the application process. These include academic certificates, training qualifications, identity documents, reservation proofs, and any document used to claim marks under eligibility or experience. The verification round is compulsory for every shortlisted applicant. Only candidates who complete this stage will be eligible for the interviews that follow.
Interview Ratio Set at 1:1.6 for Teacher Posts
The Commission has maintained a 1:1.6 interview ratio. This means that 160 candidates have been called for every 100 posts. Officials stated that this ratio ensures a sufficient pool of applicants to fill all available positions even after document screening and interview evaluation. The vacancies include Higher Secondary teaching posts across government and government-aided schools in West Bengal.
Many Candidates from the 2016 Batch Included Again
An official involved in the process said that a significant number of “untainted” candidates from the 2016 selection cycle, whose appointments were cancelled following the Supreme Court order of April three, have been included in the new list. Around 26,000 candidates had lost their jobs due to the ruling. Many among them now appear again in the updated interview list, especially for around 12,445 teacher posts in Classes eleven and twelve. The Commission has stated that the new list aims to fill vacancies through a transparent and structured selection process.
