The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has not yet announced the WBJEE 2026 exam date or registration timeline, causing anxiety among engineering aspirants. Reports suggest the delay may be influenced by the upcoming West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections in March-April 2026, with the board possibly planning to schedule the exam after the polls to avoid conflicts.
The WBJEE 2026 exam date and notification are still awaited from the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB), and the official schedule has not been published on the board’s website wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee as of mid-February 2026. This ongoing delay has created uncertainty for students preparing for the state-level engineering entrance exam. In typical years, the WBJEE notification, including exam and registration dates would be expected by late 2025 or early 2026, with the exam conducted in April 2026 based on previous practice. However, the board has yet to confirm any dates.
WBJEE 2026 Exam Possible Reason for Delay: State Elections
According to multiple reports, the upcoming West Bengal State Legislative Assembly elections scheduled around March-April 2026 might be contributing to the delay in announcing the WBJEE 2026 exam schedule. The board may be waiting to finalise dates after the elections to avoid clashes with election-related activities and logistics. While there has been no official statement from WBJEEB explaining the delay, the election timing is widely discussed as a potential factor affecting the release of the exam notification and application timeline.
What WBJEE 2026 Aspirants Should Know?
- So far, the WBJEE 2026 registration date has also not been released, leaving candidates unsure when the online application form will open.
- Based on earlier years, the application window typically opens in January and February, with online form submission active for several weeks.
- The exam is traditionally held in the last week of April, often on a Sunday, though this remains tentative until the official announcement is made.
Students are advised to keep an eye on the official WBJEEB website for the WBJEE 2026 notification, which will include exam date, registration schedule, eligibility details, application link and syllabus once published. Despite the delay, preparation for the exam pattern, including Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper II (Physics & Chemistry) is still ongoing among aspirants, and many have already started planning based on previous years’ timelines.
