UPSC New Application Portal 2025 Launched, Components & Universal Registration

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has introduced a new online application portal designed to simplify and enhance the application process for candidates. This upgraded system follows a four-stage format, which allows applicants to complete the necessary steps ahead of individual exam announcements.

Now active at upsconline.nic.in, the portal is currently accepting applications for the CDS and NDA II exams for 2025. UPSC has also announced the discontinuation of the previous One Time Registration (OTR) system, meaning all candidates must re-register on the new platform.

UPSC New Online Application Portal

UPSC's newly launched Online Application Portal has replaced the previous One Time Registration system. This upgrade aims to speed up the application process and reduce last-minute traffic on the website. Candidates can complete the first three sections of the portal at any time, allowing them to have their information ready in advance. Once an exam notification is released, they only need to fill out the specific application form.

Components of the UPSC's New Portal

On 28th May, 2025, UPSC launched its new application portal at upsconline.nic.in. Candidates are required to follow specific instructions for completing each section of the registration process. The portal is divided into four key parts:

  • Universal Registration
  • Account Creation
  • Examination
  • Common Application Form

UPSC Universal Registration

This section collects general details applicable to all UPSC exams and can be completed in advance. To make the process smoother, UPSC recommends using an Aadhaar card during Universal Registration, as it facilitates easy verification and acts as a consistent, long-term identification for all future applications.

According to the official website, “Applicants are encouraged to use their Aadhaar Card as the ID document during Universal Registration for simple, efficient verification and authentication of their details, which then serves as a permanent and common record across all exams.”
