The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 final results, recommending 958 candidates for appointment to central services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among other Group A and Group B posts. The results were declared on 6 March 2026, following the completion of all three stages — Preliminary, Main and Personality Test — of the highly competitive exam.

 

UPSC CSE Top performers and merit statistics

At the top of the merit list, Anuj Agnihotri secured All India Rank 1, followed by Rajeshwari Suve M at AIR 2 and Akansh Dhull at AIR 3 among the top performers. The final top‑10 list includes candidates with diverse academic and regional backgrounds, reflecting the national reach of the exam.

 

UPSC CSE Qualified candidates and category distribution

A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment against the reported 1,087 vacancies across services, indicating the intense competition — many more appear for the exam than the number of openings. The distribution of qualified candidates by category shows considerable representation:

  • General: 317
  • EWS: 104
  • OBC: 306
  • SC: 158
  • ST: 73These figures highlight broad participation and selection across diverse social categories.

What’s next after UPSC CSE result declaration?

Candidates whose names appear in the final merit list will proceed with service allocation based on rank and preference, followed by medical examinations and foundation training at academies such as the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). Marksheets for qualified candidates will be made available on the official UPSC portal within 15 days of the result announcement
