SSC Exam Schedule 2026 Released for MTS, Havaldar, GD Posts

SSC Announces CBT Dates for Multiple Recruitment Exams

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the examination schedule for several major recruitment exams in 2026, including the Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Havaldar, and General Duty (GD) Constable examinations. The exams will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode across multiple shifts nationwide. As per the schedule, the SSC MTS and Havaldar recruitment examinations will begin on February 4, 2026. The tests are expected to continue until February 15, 2026, with candidates appearing in different shifts depending on their allotted exam centres.

SSC GD Constable Exam to Begin Later in February

The SSC GD Constable examination is scheduled to commence from February 23, 2026. The examination will be conducted to recruit candidates for various central armed police forces and other paramilitary organisations under the central government. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official SSC website for updates regarding admit cards, exam city details and shift timings. Admit cards are expected to be released region-wise before the examination dates.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The SSC recruitment exams will be conducted in multiple stages depending on the post applied for. The initial stage for MTS, Havaldar and GD Constable posts involves a computer-based test that evaluates candidates on subjects such as general intelligence, reasoning ability, numerical aptitude and general awareness. For certain posts, candidates who qualify in the CBT stage will be required to appear for additional tests such as physical efficiency tests, physical standard tests or document verification rounds as part of the selection process.

Slot Booking and Exam Guidelines

SSC has also implemented self-slotting facilities for certain examinations, allowing candidates to choose preferred exam dates and shifts, subject to availability. This move aims to provide greater flexibility and improve exam management efficiency. Candidates must follow all exam day guidelines issued by the commission, including carrying valid identification proof, admit cards and adhering to reporting time instructions. Entry to the examination centre may be denied in case of non-compliance with prescribed rules.

Recruitment Drive Aims to Fill Multiple Government Vacancies

The SSC examinations are conducted annually to fill vacancies across central government ministries, departments and security forces. The 2026 recruitment cycle is expected to attract a large number of applicants across India, given the demand for government jobs. Candidates preparing for the SSC exams are advised to intensify their preparation, revise the syllabus thoroughly and stay updated with official announcements to avoid missing important deadlines or instructions.
