Key Areas of Accountability
General Responsibilities
Facilitators conduct detailed assessments of shelters using standardised tools. This includes evaluating available space, age groups, gender breakdown, disabilities and material requirements. Based on these assessments, facilitators coordinate with shelter management to identify eligible beneficiary children. They apply pre- and post-intervention assessment tools to measure literacy, numeracy and developmental progress. Lesson planning forms a major part of the role, requiring the facilitator to use active learning methods and adapt content to children’s varied learning levels. The role also includes planning recreational and extracurricular activities that support creativity, participation and psychosocial well-being. Individualised education plans are developed for children who need additional support.
Documentation and Monitoring
Facilitators maintain detailed documentation, including attendance sheets, parent consent forms, daily activity reports and progress updates. They prepare weekly and monthly summaries and report any concerns related to safeguarding or child protection. Close coordination with shelter representatives is essential for managing and securing learning materials.
Parental and Community Engagement
A significant part of the work involves engaging caregivers. Facilitators share children’s progress, encourage home-based learning activities and organise interactive sessions that promote healthy caregiver-child relationships.
Professional Development and Collaboration
Facilitators attend all relevant training sessions and participate in workshops, meetings and capacity-building activities. The role contributes to improving children’s confidence, communication and overall learning experience in emergency contexts.
