The Rajasthan Government has announced a significant reduction in MBBS fees for NRI students, effective from the 2025-26 academic session. The move aims to make undergraduate medical education more accessible and attract a larger pool of candidates to the state’s medical colleges.
Rajasthan MBBS Fees 2025-26: NRI Quota
The revised MBBS fees for NRI quota students in medical institutes run by the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES) have been set at INR 23.9 Lakh per year, down from the earlier INR 31 Lakh per year. Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa highlighted that the high fees had previously discouraged many talented NRI students, resulting in vacant seats that were often converted to management quota seats at lower fees, causing revenue losses for the state.
Seat Distribution in Rajasthan MBBS Colleges
The Rajasthan MBBS colleges under RajMES follow the seat allocation as per the quota system:
The fee reduction for the NRI quota is expected to encourage more enrolments, ensuring that vacant seats are filled and deserving students can pursue medical education without financial barriers.
Objective of Fee Revision
The Rajasthan government’s initiative seeks to:
- Make MBBS education more affordable for NRI students.
- Increase enrolment in RajMES medical colleges.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of vacant seats under the NRI quota.
Deputy CM Bairwa termed the fee revision as a “balanced reform” that addresses both affordability for students and revenue management for the state.
