Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026: BFUHS Restores Candidature of 4 Candidates
BFUHS has restored the candidature of four candidates who had earlier been debarred from consideration for the 85% Punjab State Quota under NEET UG 2026 counselling.
The decision was taken after the candidates submitted representations against their debarment. BFUHS subsequently verified the relevant records with the respective states and Union Territories before restoring their candidature.
The four candidates whose candidature has been restored are from Assam, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana.
The details are given below:
BFUHS has clarified that restoration of candidature does not guarantee admission. The candidates will still have to fulfil all other eligibility requirements and comply with the rules and regulations applicable to Punjab NEET UG counselling.
Punjab NEET UG 2026: Why Were Candidates Debarred?
The four candidates were among a larger group of aspirants who had earlier been debarred after BFUHS found that they had applied simultaneously for Punjab State Quota seats and state quota seats in other states or Union Territories.
BFUHS had previously taken action against candidates found to be claiming state quota eligibility in multiple jurisdictions. The university's action was linked to the Punjab Government's eligibility provisions governing State Quota admissions.
After receiving representations from some candidates and verifying their records, BFUHS found that four candidates could be restored to consideration for the Punjab State Quota. The remaining candidates continue to be governed by the earlier decisions and applicable counselling rules.
Punjab NEET UG Sports Category Merit List 2026 Released
Along with the restoration notice, BFUHS has released the Punjab NEET UG Sports Category Merit List 2026 for candidates who applied under the Sports Category during the first round of online counselling for MBBS and BDS courses.
The merit list has been prepared by the Office of the Director, Sports, Punjab, based on the sports credentials and gradation certificates submitted by eligible candidates.
According to the latest information, 68 candidates have been declared eligible in the first Sports Category merit list for MBBS and BDS admissions. Punjab has 30 seats reserved under the Sports Category, comprising 16 MBBS seats and 14 BDS seats across government, private and minority institutions.
Punjab NEET UG Sports Category 2026: Tie-Breaking Rule
BFUHS has also specified the tie-breaking rule for candidates who obtain equal marks in the Sports Merit Evaluation.
If two or more candidates have the same Sports Merit Evaluation score, their NEET UG 2026 rank will be considered for determining inter-se merit. The candidate with the better NEET UG rank will be placed higher in the merit order.
The Sports Category merit list therefore combines the sports evaluation with NEET UG merit wherever a tie occurs.
Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2: Latest Schedule
