MCC NEET PG Counselling 2026: Round 1 Choice Filling Begins Today, Check Details Here

The NEET PG Counselling 2026 Round 1 choice-filling process has started on October 13, 2026. Candidates seeking admission to postgraduate medical courses can enter their preferred colleges and specialisations through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) website. The choice-filling and locking process is scheduled to close on October 22, 2026.

Candidates who have qualified for NEET PG 2026 and are participating in MCC counselling should carefully prepare their NEET PG 2026 college preference list before the deadline. The order of choices is important because seat allotment depends on candidates' ranks, preferences, seat availability and applicable counselling rules. Round 1 registration is scheduled to remain open until October 21, 2026.

NEET PG Counselling 2026 Round 1 Important Dates

Candidates should keep track of the MCC NEET PG counselling schedule to complete registration, choice filling and locking within the prescribed deadlines.

Candidates should check the official MCC portal for the exact choice-locking timings and any changes to the schedule before submitting their preferences.

How to Fill NEET PG 2026 Round 1 Choices

Candidates must complete the choice-filling process online after registering for NEET PG 2026 counselling. Before entering preferences, applicants should review the available seat matrix, course options, college details and applicable eligibility conditions.

Follow these steps to submit your college and course preferences.

1. Visit the official MCC website at https://mcc.nic.in/.
2. Open the PG Medical Counselling section.
3. Log in using your registered credentials.
4. Select the option for NEET PG 2026 Round 1 choice filling.
5. Review the available colleges, courses, specialisations and seat categories.
6. Add your preferred colleges and courses to the choice list.
7. Arrange the preferences in descending order of priority, placing your most preferred option first.
8. Review the complete list and make any necessary changes before the deadline.
9. Lock your choices during the designated locking window.

How to Create an NEET PG 2026 MD, MS Preference List

Preparing a well-considered NEET PG 2026 preference list can help candidates make informed decisions during counselling. Applicants should not select colleges based only on reputation or location. They should also evaluate the specialisation, clinical exposure, fee structure, stipend, infrastructure and service bond conditions.

Candidates can divide their options into three groups: highly preferred colleges and specialisations, acceptable alternatives, and options they would not want to select. Only courses and colleges they are genuinely willing to join should be included.

Applicants should also check previous admission trends and their rank while comparing available options. However, previous cutoffs do not guarantee admission in the current counselling round because seat availability and candidate preferences may change.

Which Seats Are Covered Under MCC NEET PG Counselling 2026?

The MCC NEET PG counselling process covers 50% of All India Quota postgraduate medical seats, along with seats covered under the applicable central counselling arrangements for participating institutions, including central universities, deemed universities, ESIC institutions and DNB programmes.

The remaining state quota seats are generally filled through the respective state counselling authorities, according to their rules and schedules. Candidates should confirm which counselling authority handles their preferred colleges before filling out their choices.
