The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reduced the NEET MDS 2026 qualifying cutoff by 20.576 percentile across categories. Check the revised qualifying percentiles for General/EWS, SC/ST/OBC and UR-PwD candidates, along with updates on revised results and postgraduate dental counselling.

NEET MDS 2026: Qualifying Cutoff Reduced by 20.576 Percentile for All Categories

The NEET MDS 2026 qualifying cutoff has been reduced by 20.576 percentile across all categories, providing relief to dental graduates seeking admission to postgraduate dental courses for the 2026–27 academic session. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued the decision on October 12, 2026, directing the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to prepare revised results based on the lowered qualifying criteria.

The decision applies to candidates in the General/EWS, SC/ST/OBC and UR-PwD categories. With the revised qualifying percentiles, more candidates may become eligible to participate in the NEET MDS 2026 counselling process, subject to the applicable admission requirements. Candidates should check the revised cutoff carefully and follow official updates from NBEMS and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

NEET MDS 2026 Revised Qualifying Cutoff

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare notification dated October 12, 2026, the NEET MDS cutoff 2026 has been lowered by 20.576 percentile for each category. The revised qualifying percentiles for the 2026–27 admission session are given below.

The revised figures represent the minimum qualifying percentile, not the candidate's NEET MDS rank or a fixed marks requirement. Candidates should not assume that a particular score guarantees admission to an MDS college. Seat allotment depends on factors such as rank, category, seat availability, choices filled during counselling and applicable eligibility requirements.

Why Has the NEET MDS 2026 Cutoff Been Reduced?

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has lowered the NEET MDS 2026 qualifying percentile in accordance with the Dental Council of India (DCI) MDS Regulations, 2017, and the second proviso under Clause 7(1) of the DCI Master of Dental Surgery Course (First Amendment) Regulations, 2018.

Under the decision, NBEMS has been directed to issue revised results based on the new qualifying percentiles. The MCC has also been asked to take the necessary action on a priority basis.

Reducing the qualifying cutoff can allow additional candidates to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for postgraduate dental counselling. However, qualifying NEET MDS does not automatically ensure admission to a college or speciality. Candidates must still meet the relevant admission conditions and participate in the counselling process.

How to Check NEET MDS 2026 Revised Cutoff and Result

Candidates can use the official examination and counselling websites to check updates regarding the NEET MDS 2026 revised cutoff and result.

  1. Visit the official NBEMS website.
  2. Open the examination notices or NEET MDS section.
  3. Look for the notification related to the revised NEET MDS 2026 result or qualifying cutoff.
  4. Open the notification and verify the revised qualifying criteria for your category.
  5. Follow the instructions provided for checking the result or scorecard, if the revised result has been released.
  6. For counselling information, visit the official MCC website and open the MDS counselling section.

Candidates should check both websites regularly because the revised result and counselling updates may be published separately.

What the NEET MDS 2026 Cutoff Reduction Means for Candidates

The reduction in the NEET MDS 2026 qualifying cutoff may give additional dental graduates an opportunity to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for postgraduate dental admissions. Candidates who did not qualify under the original percentile may wish to check the revised criteria and their updated result once it is available.

However, the lower cutoff should not be interpreted as confirmation of admission. Candidates must check their revised result, confirm their eligibility and complete the counselling process within the prescribed deadlines. Admission will depend on the applicable rules, available seats, merit and the counselling choices submitted by candidates.

For the latest NEET MDS 2026 cutoff, revised result and counselling updates, candidates should rely on official notices published by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, NBEMS and MCC.
