NCERT Launches Free Online Courses for Classes 11 & 12 on SWAYAM

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced a new set of free online courses for Classes 11 and 12, designed to strengthen board exam preparation for the academic year 2025-26. These courses, hosted on the SWAYAM portal, provide structured study material including chapter-wise modules, video lectures, and self-paced assessments. NCERT officials stated that the initiative aims to make quality education accessible to students nationwide, including those from remote areas.

Key Dates and Schedule

Students interested in enrolling for the NCERT courses must follow the official schedule:

Each course will run for 24 weeks, and students who secure 60% or above in the final assessment will be awarded a completion certificate from NCERT.

Subjects Offered

The programme covers a broad range of subjects for both Class 11 and Class 12:

• Class 11: Accountancy, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Physics, Psychology, Sociology
• Class 12: Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Economics, English, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Sociology

About the Initiative

NCERT highlighted that the free online courses will help students revisit difficult topics, build conceptual clarity, and prepare effectively for board exams. The self-paced format allows learners to study flexibly while complementing classroom teaching. The council also added that this step aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 goals of promoting affordable and inclusive digital education.
