NAAC Issues Notice to Al-Falah University for False Accreditation

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has issued a show cause notice to Al-Falah University, located in Faridabad, for publishing false and misleading accreditation information on its official website. The council stated that the university has never been accredited and has not even applied for its first cycle of assessment, contrary to the claims made publicly.

 

NAAC Calls University’s Claims “Absolutely Wrong”

According to the official communication, NAAC found that Al-Falah University had falsely mentioned that its constituent colleges — Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology, and Al-Falah School of Education and Training — were graded ‘A’ by NAAC. However, the council clarified that these accreditations had expired long ago and that no renewal applications had been submitted. In its statement, NAAC described the claims as “absolutely wrong and misleading the public, especially parents, students, and other stakeholders.” The council warned that such actions not only violate ethical guidelines but also undermine public trust in the accreditation process.

 

Seven-Day Deadline for Response

The show cause notice directed Al-Falah University to respond within seven days, explaining why disciplinary or legal action should not be taken against it. NAAC also said it may recommend to higher authorities — including the University Grants Commission (UGC), National Medical Commission (NMC), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Government of Haryana — to withdraw the university’s programme recognitions if satisfactory clarification is not received. The council has further instructed the university to immediately remove all expired or false accreditation references from its website, advertisements, and other promotional materials.

 

Link to Ongoing Delhi Blast Investigation

The NAAC’s move coincides with an ongoing terror investigation into the Delhi Red Fort blast and a large explosives haul in the Faridabad region, incidents that have allegedly drawn direct connections to staff and premises associated with Al-Falah University. According to preliminary reports, several doctors and staff members from the university have been detained and questioned for their possible involvement in the terror module linked to the Delhi blast. Law enforcement sources stated that the probe is examining the university’s affiliations and institutional activities. The university administration, however, issued a statement asserting that it has “no connection with the accused individuals beyond their employment.”

 

Official Reaction and Next Steps

While NAAC’s primary concern remains the false accreditation claims, the council’s notice has added to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the university. The Ministry of Education and Haryana state authorities are expected to review the matter once NAAC submits its report. If the university fails to provide a credible explanation within the stipulated time, it could face legal proceedings, withdrawal of regulatory recognitions, and temporary suspension of affiliated programmes.
