The Maharashtra government has extended the Class 12 exam form-filling deadline to October 20, 2025, providing relief to students affected by severe flooding across the state. The decision comes after students and parents from flood-hit areas reported difficulties in completing the forms on time.
Extension Announced Due to Flood Situation
Many students were unable to submit their Class 12 exam forms as the original deadline approached, owing to the flood-affected areas in Maharashtra. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde intervened after receiving calls from students and parents. He coordinated with Education Minister Dada Bhuse, resulting in the extension of the deadline. Shinde said that the decision will allow students to focus on their studies without the pressure of meeting the earlier deadline, ensuring that all eligible students can complete the exam registration process smoothly.
Relief Measures for Students and Residents
The recent floods caused significant disruption to education, with students losing books, study materials, and notes. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall. Thane district Collector Shrikrishna Panchal confirmed that relocation plans are ready for 42 riverside villages in the district. Deputy CM Shinde assured that officials are prepared with boats, pumping equipment, and relief measures to manage water accumulation and relocate residents when necessary.
Impact on Students and Examination Process
This extension will benefit thousands of Class 12 students across Maharashtra, particularly those in flood-affected regions. The government’s intervention ensures that students will not face obstacles while submitting their forms and can appear for exams without undue stress. Students are advised to complete the exam form submission before the extended deadline of October 20, 2025, through the respective official portals, and follow updates from local authorities regarding safety measures in flood-hit areas.
