A student has been booked in Manipal for allegedly photographing the JEE Main 2026 question paper and attempting to circulate it. The incident took place during the April 5 exam. Police have started an investigation.
A case has been registered in Manipal after a student allegedly attempted to photograph and circulate the JEE Main 2026 question paper. The incident occurred during the exam conducted on 05 April 2026. Authorities have initiated an investigation following a complaint by the exam centre observer.
JEE Main 2026 Incident Reported at Manipal Exam Centre
The incident took place at TMA Pai Polytechnic College, Manipal, one of the designated exam centres. The JEE Main exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in two sessions on the same day.
- Morning Session: 149 candidates appeared
- Afternoon Session: 133 candidates appeared
The alleged malpractice was reported during the afternoon session.
JEE Main 2026 Student Accused of Photographing Question Paper
According to the complaint filed by centre observer V.K. Manohar Kumar, a student allegedly used a mobile phone inside the exam hall. The accused, identified as Aridaman Singh Sang from Uttarakhand, reportedly:
- Took photographs of the question paper displayed on the computer screen
- Attempted to send the images outside for circulation
Such actions are strictly prohibited under NTA exam guidelines.
JEE Main 2026 FIR Registered, Police Investigation Underway
Following the complaint, an FIR has been registered at Manipal Police Station. Local police have begun an investigation into the matter. Officials are examining how the candidate managed to carry a mobile device inside the examination hall despite strict security checks. Further action will be taken based on investigation findings.
JEE Main 2026 Exam Rules & Security Guidelines
NTA has strict rules to prevent malpractice during exams. Candidates are allowed entry only with:
- Admit card and valid photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.)
- Basic permitted items as per guidelines
Electronic devices such as mobile phones are strictly banned inside the exam hall. Any violation can lead to:
- Cancellation of candidature
- Disqualification from future exams
- Legal action under relevant laws
