The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 answer key objection window along with the release of the provisional answer key. Candidates who appeared for the Session 1 examination can now review the official answers and raise objections if they believe any response provided by NTA is incorrect. The objection facility is available through the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in and will remain open until 6 February 2026. This challenge process is an important step before the final answer key is published, as it allows candidates to report discrepancies and ensures transparency in the evaluation process. Since the answer key released on 4 February 2026 is provisional in nature, NTA provides candidates with an opportunity to submit their objections with proper evidence. Any corrections accepted after review will be reflected in the final answer key, which will be used for result preparation.
How to Challenge JEE Main 2026 Provisional Answer Key?
Candidates must submit objections only through the online portal. The challenge facility is available under candidate login and requires payment for each question challenged. The step-by-step procedure is explained below:
- Login at jeemain.nta.nic.in using application number and password
- Click on the option labelled “Answer Key Challenge”
- Select the relevant question ID for which an objection needs to be raised
- Choose the correct answer option as per the candidate’s claim
- Upload supporting documents or justification for the objection
- Pay the objection fee of INR 200 per question through online payment modes
- Submit the challenge before the deadline of 6 February 2026
Candidates must note that the objection fee is non-refundable, unless the challenge is found valid and accepted by NTA after review.
What Happens After the Challenge Window Closes?
Once the objection window closes, NTA will compile and review all the challenges submitted by candidates. Subject experts will examine each objection carefully and decide whether any changes are required in the provisional answer key. After the evaluation process is completed, NTA will release the final answer key, which will be considered definitive. The final results will then be prepared strictly based on this revised key.The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 result is expected to be declared on 12 February 2026. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official portal for updates regarding the final key, result link, and scorecard availability.
