Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is set to launch a BTech programme in Metrology from the 2025–26 academic session. Admission to this new programme will be conducted exclusively through JEE Main scores, unlike other courses at the university which rely on IPUCET rankings.
The new programme will be offered in collaboration with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), aiming to provide students with cutting-edge training in precision measurement and its applications in engineering.
IP University Admission Details and Eligibility
The BTech in Metrology will focus on the core principles of engineering measurement, combining modern engineering practices with the Indian Knowledge System. Students applying for the programme must have a valid JEE Main score.
The programme is currently offered at only a few IITs, making GGSIPU a pioneer in expanding access to Metrology education.
IPU’s Initiatives for Students
To promote inclusivity and participation, IP University has also introduced the following:
- Orphan Children Quota: One additional seat per school/programme with 100% fee waiver under the EWS scheme.
- Single Girl Child Quota: Already in place since 2024.
- Admission Chatbot Service: Provides instant guidance for applicants; available onipu.ac.in.
IP University Vision
Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice-Chancellor of GGSIPU, emphasized the importance of Metrology in industrial growth and innovation. He urged students to take part in such programmes that form the backbone of engineering and scientific advancements.
“Metrology is the backbone of basic engineering, and this programme will prepare students for research and industrial applications,” he noted.
