The 7-month industry-aligned programme by IIT Madras Pravartak aims to build real-world AI & DL capabilities for tomorrow’s tech leaders.
In a major push to build deep-tech capabilities in India’s workforce, IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras, has announced the launch of the Advanced Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence & Deep Learning. The programme offers a comprehensive and application-focused curriculum tailored to equip aspiring professionals with cutting-edge skills in machine learning, deep learning frameworks, data analytics, and emerging AI technologies.
The 7-month, LIVE online programme, delivered in collaboration with TimesPro, has been meticulously designed to cater to the growing demand for AI-literate professionals who can drive innovation, optimise operations, and shape intelligent systems across sectors. From developing neural networks to deploying real-time machine learning solutions, learners will gain hands-on expertise in tools like Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and MLOps. A highlight of the programme is the inclusion of a dedicated month-long capstone project, allowing learners to apply theoretical insights to real-world problem-solving using structured, image or text data.
Artificial Intelligence is transforming the global technological landscape. According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the global AI market is projected to grow from USD 189 billion in 2023 to USD 4.8 trillion by 2033. While automation poses challenges, nearly 27% of jobs in advanced economies could be enhanced by AI, improving productivity and complementing human capabilities. In India, the report ‘India’s AI Revolution: A Roadmap to Viksit Bharat’ estimates the need for one million AI professionals by 2026. The India Skills Report 2024 by Wheebox further predicts India’s AI market will reach USD 28.8 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 45%.
The new IITM Pravartak programme is poised to address this critical talent shortfall with a curriculum rooted in statistical reasoning, ML/DL algorithms, LLMOps, generative AI and cybersecurity applications. The curriculum spans nine intensive modules, including Python for Data Science, Probability & Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning Foundations, AI Applications, and a capstone project focusing on end-to-end AI workflows.
The programme is open to graduates and postgraduates in engineering, mathematics, or computational sciences, as well as professionals seeking to transition into AI roles or future-proof their careers with domain-aligned analytical capabilities. Learners can also explore career opportunities in roles such as data scientist, ML engineer, data analyst, AI/ML research scientist, business intelligence analyst, deep learning engineer, quantitative analyst, among others.
The programme, delivered via Direct-to-Direct (D2D) Mode, includes interactive online sessions conducted by IIT Madras' distinguished faculty and top industry experts, supplemented with webinars, assignments, and optional campus immersion at IIT Madras Research Park. Successful learners will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from IITM Pravartak, Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras.
