IIT Delhi has introduced a five-day offline Certificate Program on Ideation, Innovation, Intellectual Property and Commercialization, aimed at students, researchers, and professionals. Applications are open on the official portal, with the last date to register being July 10, 2026. Classes will run from July 13 to July 17, 2026, at the Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has launched a five-day offline Certificate Program on Ideation, Innovation, Intellectual Property (IP) and Commercialization, and the last date to register for the course is July 10, 2026. The programme is designed to give students, researchers, professionals, entrepreneurs, and innovators practical exposure to converting original ideas into commercially viable products.
About the IIT Delhi Certificate Program
The course involves 30 hours of structured training, divided into 10 sessions of three hours each, spread across five days. All sessions will be held in offline mode from July 13 to July 17, 2026, at the Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi. The programme has been developed in response to a persistent gap in India's innovation ecosystem, where despite rising research output through initiatives such as Startup India, the Atal Innovation Mission, and the Department of Science and Technology, only a limited share of innovations successfully reach the commercial market. IIT Delhi's course seeks to bridge this gap by training participants in intellectual property management, technology transfer, funding pathways, and commercialization strategy.
IIT Delhi Eligibility for the Certificate Program
The programme has been kept open to a wide range of applicants rather than being restricted to a single academic level. Eligible candidates include:
- Diploma holders
- BTech and MTech graduates
- PhD scholars and aspiring PhD candidates
- Working professionals and industry executives
- Technology entrepreneurs, innovators, and startup founders
This broad eligibility criterion allows the course to bring together participants from both academic and industry backgrounds who are interested in innovation management, intellectual property, and technology commercialization.
IIT Delhi Registration Process and Programme Fee
Interested and eligible candidates must apply online through the official portal, ceppay.iitd.ac.in, before the July 10, 2026 deadline. The total programme fee has been set at INR 65,000, plus 18% GST, payable at the time of registration. Since the course is being conducted in offline mode with limited seats at the Department of Management Studies, candidates are advised to complete their registration well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical issues.
IIT Delhi Curriculum and Key Topics Covered
The certificate programme has been structured to combine theoretical grounding with practical, hands-on learning. Some of the major topics that will be covered during the five-day schedule include:
- Innovation and ideation strategies
- Intellectual property management and the patent filing process
- Prior art search techniques and patent claim analysis
- Product prototyping pathways and regulatory compliance
- Technology transfer mechanisms and commercialization models
- Deep-tech business models, startup funding strategies, and investor readiness
- Grant proposal preparation for research-based ventures
IIT Delhi Learning Outcomes and Certification
By the end of the programme, participants are expected to be able to evaluate research projects for their commercialization potential, carry out structured prior-art searches using global patent databases, and build product roadmaps for emerging technologies. The course also aims to equip candidates with the ability to design market-entry and commercialization strategies, and to prepare investor and grant pitch presentations with a clear understanding of the intellectual property lifecycle, from the initial invention stage through to commercialization. Candidates who successfully complete all five days of the programme will receive an official Certificate of Attendance from IIT Delhi, which can add value to their academic profile or professional portfolio in the fields of innovation, intellectual property, and technology commercialization. With India's startup and innovation ecosystem continuing to expand rapidly, this short-term programme offers a timely opportunity for students, researchers, and working professionals to strengthen their expertise in a fast-growing domain. Aspirants are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria and complete their online applications before the July 10, 2026 deadline to secure a seat in the upcoming batch.
