HBSE Allows Name, DOB Corrections on Certificates After 3 Years

The Haryana Board of School Education has revised its regulations regarding corrections in student certificates. As per the updated rules, candidates can now apply for name and date of birth corrections even after three years from certificate issuance.
The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) has introduced significant changes to its rules governing corrections in student certificates. Under the revised regulations, candidates will be allowed to apply for name and date of birth corrections even after three years from the date of issuance of board certificates.
HBSE Certificate Correction Rule Changes Explained
Earlier, HBSE permitted corrections in personal details such as name and date of birth only within a limited time frame after certificate issuance. With the new amendment, the board has relaxed this restriction, offering relief to former students who were unable to apply within the earlier deadline. The updated rule is aimed at addressing long-pending cases where discrepancies in certificates caused issues in higher education admissions, employment, or official documentation.
Conditions for Name and DOB Correction After Three Years
While allowing corrections beyond the three-year limit, HBSE has also defined specific conditions that applicants must fulfil. These conditions are intended to prevent misuse of the revised provision. Applicants may be required to submit:
- Valid supporting documents issued by competent authorities
- Affidavits or declarations confirming the correction request
- Court orders or government records, wherever applicable

The revised correction rules apply to students who have passed examinations conducted by the Haryana Board, including secondary and senior secondary levels.
