Gurgaon Class 10 students missed a crucial CBSE board examination after their school allegedly failed to issue admit cards. Authorities later found that the institution did not have valid CBSE affiliation, triggering police action.
CBSE Board Exam Disruption in Gurgaon School
Eleven Class 10 students enrolled at Educrest International School were unable to appear for the CBSE mathematics board examination. The issue surfaced when students were not provided with admit cards despite repeated requests ahead of the exam. The incident occurred in Gurgaon, raising serious concerns over school verification and student safeguards during board examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
FIR Registered Against School Management
Following protests by parents, police registered an FIR at a local police station against four school officials, including the chairman, principal, vice-principal, and a coordinator. The case has been filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to cheating, criminal breach of trust, and common intention. Police officials confirmed that an investigation has begun, and documents related to school operations, student registration, and financial transactions are being examined.
Admit Cards Not Issued Before Examination
Parents alleged that the school management assured them that admit cards would be issued shortly before the exam. Even as the examination date approached, families were repeatedly told that the documents would be delivered soon. On 16 February 2026, a parent visited the school personally but did not receive the admit card as promised. As a result, students were denied entry to the examination centre on the day of the mathematics paper.
Allegations of Fake CBSE Affiliation
According to complaints filed by parents, the school had claimed CBSE affiliation during admissions. Families alleged that the management showed affiliation certificates and promotional material that later turned out to be misleading. The issue came to light when a parent checked the official CBSE portal and found that the school was neither affiliated nor recognised. Registration numbers provided to parents were also alleged to be fabricated.
School’s Response and Legal Move
The school chairman stated that CBSE affiliation was granted only recently and claimed that alternative arrangements with other schools were being explored. The management has indicated plans to approach the high court seeking permission for affected students to appear in the remaining examinations. Officials clarified that appearing for CBSE board exams without valid affiliation is not permitted under existing rules.
Impact on Students and Ongoing Investigation
The incident has placed the academic future of 11 Class 10 students in uncertainty. Education authorities and police officials continue to investigate the matter to determine accountability and prevent similar cases.Parents have demanded stricter oversight of school affiliations to ensure students are not put at risk during critical board examinations.
