IIT Madras has announced the revised GATE 2027 registration date after multiple delays in opening the application window. As per the latest update, the GATE 2027 application form will be made available on September 2, 2026, before 7 PM. Candidates will be able to complete the GATE registration 2027 process through the official GOAPS portal.

The GATE 2027 registration was initially scheduled to begin on August 14 and was later postponed to August 27. However, the GOAPS link was not activated on the revised date, following which IIT Madras again changed the application schedule. The latest official GATE 2027 website continues to show the opening date as updated, while the regular registration deadline has been fixed as September 27, 2026.

Candidates preparing for GATE 2027 should keep their DigiLocker account, photograph, signature, valid ID proof and other required information ready before beginning the application process. Registration through DigiLocker is mandatory for all Indian nationals appearing for GATE 2027.

GATE 2027 Registration Date and Time

The latest update confirms that the GATE 2027 application form release date is September 2, 2026. The registration link is expected to become available through GOAPS before 7 PM today. Candidates should therefore regularly check the official GATE 2027 website and GOAPS portal for activation of the application link.

The official GATE 2027 schedule confirms September 27 as the last date for regular applications without a late fee and October 5 as the final date for applications submitted with a late fee. The examination will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.

One of the major changes in the GATE 2027 application process is the mandatory use of DigiLocker for Indian nationals. IIT Madras has specifically instructed candidates to create or update a verified DigiLocker account before starting the registration process.

Candidates should ensure that their DigiLocker account has a verified email address and an active mobile number because OTP-based authentication may be required during the process. IIT Madras has also instructed applicants to create a separate folder named “GATE2027” without any space in the DigiLocker drive for uploading the required documents, if applicable.

How to Create GATE2027 Folder in DigiLocker

Candidates can follow these steps before starting the GATE 2027 application:

1. Open the DigiLocker app or visit the DigiLocker website.
2. Log in using the verified DigiLocker account.
3. Go to the Drive section.
4. Select the option to create a new folder.
5. Name the folder GATE2027, without using a space.
6. Upload the required documents to the folder, wherever applicable.

Candidates should not close or refresh the authentication window while the DigiLocker verification and redirection process is taking place.

Once the GATE 2027 registration link becomes active, candidates can complete the application by following the prescribed online process. Applicants should keep their personal, academic and examination-related information ready to avoid errors during form submission.

1. Visit the official GATE 2027 website at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
2. Open the GATE 2027 application or GOAPS portal.
3. Use the DigiLocker authentication option as instructed.
4. Complete the required registration and generate the login details.
5. Enter personal and communication details.
6. Provide the required academic information.
7. Select the GATE test paper or permitted two-paper combination.
8. Select examination cities as applicable.
9. Upload the required photograph, signature, ID proof and certificates.
10. Check all details entered in the GATE 2027 application form.
11. Pay the applicable GATE registration fee.

GATE 2027 Registration Fees

The GATE 2027 application fee varies according to the candidate category. The regular application fee is Rs 1,000 per test paper for female candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories, while the fee is Rs 2,000 per test paper for other candidates, including foreign nationals. The applicable late-period fees are Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,500, respectively.
