GATE 2027 Registration Begins Today: Revised Date, Eligibility, Exam Dates

IIT Madras will begin the GATE 2027 registration process today, September 2, after postponing the earlier schedule. The GOAPS application link will be activated by 7 PM.

Candidates preparing for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering can submit their applications through the official GATE 2027 website. The regular registration deadline is September 27, while applications with a late fee will remain open until October 5.

GATE 2027 Registration Date Revised

IIT Madras has revised the GATE 2027 registration schedule several times. The application process was initially scheduled to begin in August but was postponed. The latest official update confirms that registration will open on September 2, 2026, by 7 PM.

Candidates should keep their required documents ready before starting the application. Registration through DigiLocker is mandatory for Indian nationals. Details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, photograph and verified ID information can be fetched through DigiLocker.

GATE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates currently studying in the third year or higher of an eligible undergraduate degree can appear for GATE 2027. Candidates who have already completed a government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities are also eligible.

There is no age limit for appearing in GATE 2027. Candidates can also appear for the examination multiple times.

GATE 2027 Exam Dates

The examination will be conducted across six dates in February 2027. The GATE 2027 score will remain valid for three years and can be used for admission to postgraduate and doctoral programmes, while several PSUs also use GATE scores for recruitment.

New Changes in GATE 2027

IIT Madras has introduced Robotics and Automation (RA) as a new GATE test paper. The examination now offers 30 test papers. The syllabus has also been revised for GATE 2027, with changes to selected paper codes and two-paper combinations.

• Complete registration through DigiLocker.
