The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), organising the GATE 2026 examination, has made the admit card available for download at the official portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Candidates who have registered for the computer-based test (CBT) must download and print the hall ticket ahead of the scheduled exam dates 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026.

 

How to Download the GATE 2026 Admit Card?

To download the GATE 2026 hall ticket:

  1. Visit the official portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
  2. Use your GOAPS login credentials (Enrollment ID and password).
  3. Access the admit card link and download the PDF.
  4. Print a clear copy on A4-size paper with visible photographs and details.

Candidates should carefully verify details such as name spelling, paper code, exam centre address and reporting time mentioned on the admit card. Any discrepancy should be addressed with the GATE authorities before the exam day.

 

GATE 2026: Important Topics for CE, EE, ME and EC Papers

For aspirants of core engineering branches, focusing on key subjects can boost performance:

  • Civil Engineering (CE): Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Environmental Engineering, Highway Engineering, Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics. Topics like phase diagrams, BOD mixing and hydraulic jump are commonly tested in NAT sections.
  • Electrical Engineering (EE): Fundamental concepts in Power Systems, Control Systems, Electrical Machines and Signals & Systems are critical.
  • Mechanical Engineering (ME): Thermodynamics, Machine Design, Heat Transfer, Manufacturing Processes and Dynamics are key focus areas.
  • Electronics & Communication (EC): Analog Circuits, Digital Logic, Signals & Systems, EM Theory and Communication Systems hold high weightage.

GATE 2026: Exam Day Reporting & Documents Checklist

On the day of the exam, candidates must follow strict reporting and entry guidelines:

  • Reporting Time: Reach the exam centre at least 60–90 minutes before the scheduled session.
  • Mandatory Documents: Hard copy of GATE 2026 admit card and a valid original photo ID (such as Aadhaar card, passport, PAN card, voter ID or driving licence).
  • Biometric Verification: Fingerprint and photo checks will be conducted at the entry gate.
  • Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, smart watches, personal calculators and study materials are not allowed inside the exam hall.

 

GATE 2026: Additional Exam Day Instructions

Invigilators will provide scribble pads for rough work, which candidates must return after the test. A virtual scientific calculator will be available within the CBT interface; personal calculators are not permitted. Late entry may be permitted up to 30 minutes after the session starts under specific conditions, but no extra time will be given. Candidates should also plan their travel and locate the centre a day before to avoid last-minute delays.

 

GATE 2026: Looking Ahead

After the conduct of the GATE 2026 exam over the two weekends, results are expected to be declared by 19 March 2026, followed by scorecard availability for qualified candidates.
