The Central Board of Secondary Education provides an online facility to retrieve forgotten CTET application numbers. Candidates can recover their application number using basic details on the official portal to access admit cards and results.
Many candidates appearing for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 often misplace their application number, which is crucial for downloading the admit card, checking exam details and later accessing the result. To help such candidates, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) offers an online recovery facility at ctet.nic.in that allows applicants to retrieve the forgotten application number using basic personal information.
Why is the CTET Application Number Important?
The application number serves as a login credential for the CTET portal and is required for several exam-related activities:
- Downloading the CTET admit card
- Checking exam date, shift and centre details
- Viewing the CTET result and score card
Without this number, candidates cannot access these services on the official CTET website.
How to Retrieve Your CTET Application Number?
CBSE provides a simple online method for candidates to recover their forgotten application number. Those who cannot find it in their records can follow the steps below:
- Visit the CTET official website: ctet.nic.in.
- Click on the “Forgot Application Number” link on the login page.
- Enter details such as candidate’s name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth and security pin as provided during registration.
- Submit the form.
- The CTET application number will be displayed on the screen for candidates to note down and use.
Candidates may also find their application number if CBSE had previously sent it to their registered email or mobile number during the initial submission. It is advisable to check older SMS messages and email inboxes (including spam folders) for this information.
Tips to Avoid CTET Credential Issues
Application numbers and other login credentials are essential throughout the CTET process, from admit card download to result access. Candidates are encouraged to:
- Save and note down the application number securely after registration
- Keep a backup copy via email or physical notes
- If unable to retrieve the number online, consider contacting the CBSE helpdesk through official contact details on ctet.nic.in for assistance.
Being proactive with credential management helps candidates avoid last-minute hassles as exam dates approach.
