The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 is being conducted as per schedule, with the afternoon shift examination (Paper 1) starting at 2:30 PM and concluding at 5:30 PM. Candidates appearing for the CTET 2026 afternoon session have been advised to strictly follow the reporting time mentioned on their admit cards to avoid last-minute inconvenience. The CTET exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Classes 1 to 8 across central government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other CBSE-affiliated institutions.

 

CTET 2026 Exam Schedule and Shift Details

As per the official exam pattern, CTET 2026 is being held in two shifts on the exam day. The morning shift is conducted earlier, while the afternoon shift (Paper 1) takes place from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Entry to the examination centre usually closes well before the exam begins, and candidates are not allowed to enter after the gate closing time. Candidates appearing in the afternoon shift are advised to reach the exam centre at least 90 minutes before the reporting time to complete frisking and document verification smoothly.

 

CTET Paper 1 Exam Pattern

CTET Paper 1 is conducted for candidates aspiring to teach Classes 1 to 5. The paper consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying one mark each. There is no negative marking, which allows candidates to attempt all questions without the risk of penalty. Key sections included in CTET Paper 1 are:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
  • Language I
  • Language II
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies

The duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes, and the paper is conducted in offline (OMR-based) mode.

 

Important Instructions for Candidates

Candidates must carry their CTET Admit Card 2026, a valid photo ID proof, and follow all exam-day instructions mentioned by CBSE. Electronic devices, smart watches, calculators, and study materials are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall. CBSE has also implemented strict security measures to ensure a fair and transparent examination process. Any form of misconduct may lead to disqualification.

After the successful completion of the CTET 2026 exam, CBSE will release the official answer key, followed by the CTET 2026 result on the official website. Candidates who qualify the exam will be awarded the CTET eligibility certificate, which remains valid for a lifetime. Candidates appearing in the afternoon shift are advised to stay calm, manage time wisely, and attempt the paper with accuracy.
